Movie : Borrowers Arrietty (2010)

Heiho!! Everyone!!! I'm in such good mood today, cause I've been watch 'Borrowers Arrietty'!! For you who don't know, It's the latest Ghibli movie. After the last cute 'Ponyo' movie, I can't wait to see the next. This is actually kind of drama, but it still is amazing as well. For me it's good healing watch. Thankyou Ghibli!!

Yes, this is the story of "so-called" little people called Arrietty and her family. She's pretty isn't she? Altough when I know Arriety is actually a name, I suddenly thought of "Ariyati" a common Indonesian name which is soooo last year... Haha..

Arrietty and her family called their species as "The Borrowers" or Karigurashi in Japanesse. Because they live with 'borrowing" stuffs from human beans that scattered around, such as needle, napkin, sometimes a very tiny amount of sugar, etc. The story began when Arrietty started her first "borrowing" experience in human house (where they lived hidden inside). Meanwhile that time Sho, a 12 year old sick kid started to move there a while in a quiet countryside. In that Arriety's first experience, Sho see her. For more info, the Borrowers can not be seen by the human beans. Since they've been seen, the Borrowers family have to move in order to prevent the further accident to prevent human harmed their existence.

The borrowers made me thought about another movie in past. And yes, there is actually a hollywod kid movie in 1997 tittled as "The Borrowers". Which is so hollywood typical. With silly kid action with dumb antagonist role. Don't you remember this?

Well, hollywood is hollywood. I do watch them. But I loveee Ghibli much more. And the adaptation from Ghibli is just enchanted. By the way, both of this borrower movie are based on 1952 novel The Borrowers by Mary Norton.

In the hollywood adaptation, with many of kid action. Ghibli made it in very different way. This movie actually focused in relationship between Sho and Arrietty. Like Ghibli it's more drama and it's so sweeeet (OMG! I can't believe I said this phrase). The quality picture is so damn eye candy. It's dreamy, detail and it's Ghibli. Well, the most favorite place for me, is Arrietty room in their Borrower's house.

Arrietty said "It's my own little garden".. Girls!!Bring me my own garden too please!!!

I don't know why. But I can't think the reason why the boy character in Ghibli's movie is such alike. Sho is just like the boy from "Whisper of the Heart" and "Tales from Earth Sea". In this Arrietty, Sho come with a soft character. (Well, he's sick, right?). But yet, Sho show a gentletype man eventhough he's just 12 years old boy. FYI, Arrietty is 14.

How much they alike, after watch this, my favorite is still Sho. Kyaaa (fangirl act). But still, he can't ever beat Haku from Spirited Away. Hehe.. My favorite scene is when Arrietty meet Sho to tell him, that she will move soon.

The most important point when you see Ghibli's movie is they're soo Ghibli. (err, what do you mean?? --") Well, I mean they have their own idealistism or kind like that, right?. But, what I miss as Ghibli standard in this movie are their weird, quirky, creatures. When, other Ghibli's movie like "The Cat returns", "Howl's Moving Castle" come with full of mystical creatures, this movie is missing this critical part. Arrietty itself is weird though, she is 10 cm tall. But, I see almost no different with "The Whisper of The Heart" which is like teen love story. Maybe, I have too high expectation, like "The Spirited Away" which came with full package Ghibli movie with unlike story, lovely boy and girl character, breathtaking mystical scenery and full of kinds of Ghibli's type of creatures. Unfortunately I said, this movie can't ever beat the legendary "Spirited Away". Well, I should not hope. The director is Hiromasha Yonebayashi, with only 37 years old is the youngest director who has directed a film by Studio Ghibli. While, Hayao Miyazaki himself is responsible for planning the project, which has undoubtedly served as the safety net for the beginner Yonebayashi. Hey, but I don't blame you mister!! You do a great job. And Hayao Miyazaki sensei actually need retired too, I actually worried about his health in his very senior age. But still hoped for his another movie. It's such a dilemma. Really!! Mr. Yonebayashi actually give us a fresh air of Ghibli. It absolutely fulfill our thirst of Ghibli Movie since the latest "Ponyo" movie.

Oh, One more, mister Yonebayashi!! I like the soundtrack soooo much. Where did you find this Cecile Corbel?? First time I thought she was a Japanesse. This Cecile Corbel's angelic voice and string talent make the lovely soundtrack always humming in my ear till now!! Gosh.. Everyone, if you have any info about this soundtrack album please tell me right away!! Arigatou!! :D

For you!! Your Daddy,s daughter

I know this common preference about the girl gettin' close to her dad, and the boy to his mom. Well, it's really subjective. But since now, I just have dad, I won't (or can't) split my heart. Thus, maybe made me a real tearjeker when I watch any family drama movie, especially when the focus ran to father's character. These below are my movie lists dedicated to any father. I really mean it, I can't stop thinking about my daddy during this teary wetty movies, guys. These movies make me feel blessed, that till now, (although I can't see him everytime) we still have each other, in other side make me feel cursed too, realizing that I acted like a grumpy kid sometimes. Ouch.. believe me, nothing better than your own dad..

1. I am Sam (2001)

I just watch it a few days ago. Also inspire me to make this lists. I can't believe I never tried to watch it before. It's been my list like for years.. And when I finally watch it, tears never fail to fall down. Haha.. don't you see I'm little too easy to cry.. No.. no.. actually I rarely cry. But when you being grown up(at least for me), it seems everything little bit tacky made your guards easily down. And the tears fall down just like about 15 minutes after the film begin, and during the WHOLE duration. Goshh..

Back again, I have no hesitation why everyone get easily fall in love with Dakota Fanning in first place. She's brilliant. And no doubt Sean Penn is awesome as Sam, a retarded dad. And Dakota Fanning as Sam's daughter is really both cute and smart, oh and wise. She is so lovely, and I don't know whether there is someone like her role in this real world. She played as Lucy, a girl from retarded dad, no mom, and fully love her dad, not care bout what he is capable of. Oh man.. how I wish I can be like her in age 7. But no.. this role is just perfect. But yet lovely and endearing. Lovely and endearing enough to get nominated in any awards you can remind of, plus being well noticed in film industry. Really good leap for Dakota. And the acting of Sean Penn, I dare to say only gettin beaten by the Forrest Gump guy, Mr. Tom Hanks. It really make me feel blessed to have a normal daddy like I do. This film really serious too, to make some real actor with (sorry) real retarded mental illness, they played as Sam's BF. Oh.. look at the poster with cutie little Dakota Fanning in it. How we miss her cute face..

2. Pursuit of Happyness (2006)

Maybe one of most popular movie within this theme. This is real story anyway. I haven't read the book yet (Yes it come from a book). And it being played by Mr. Will "popular" Smith!! hehe.. And also the first role with his own talented son. Jaden Smith. You know the one in Karate Kid. Hmm.. Will Smith act like.. ehmm.. like.. him.. I think. should I say how he act? He act like him, right? I don't know how to describe. And Little Jaden here started to show his talent. Like Dad, like son, huh?

Well, what we have to watch was the story line, because it really make us shympatize, no matter what. I just can't believe there is such people in country like U.S living like this couple, daddy and his boy. They lived like tramp, homeless, and living in different place every single day. How hard it can be. Luckily being a tramp in U.S, government still provide place to this kind of people (though it's actually very very limited). Imagine if they took place in here, Indonesia, you will instantly living in a cardboard box beside, stingy river or dangerous railway.

3. Armageddon (1998)

Don't laugh!! To make this half sci fi-drama movie as movie-that-make-me-cry-cause-reminding-me-of-dad. Because I really do!!. No.. not the scene when Ben Affleck played his backstreet love with Brucce Willis's only daughter. Or when they cut the meteor (It still amazed me, how they came up with the idea "You can explode the meteor to stop the earth doomed!!" It really americano superiority, huh?).. Back then what my daddy daughter's heart really touched was the last part. The last part when Bruce Willis sacrificing himself instead of her daughter's hubby. This.. how tacky that part.. is a real superhero action. I've been watch it hundred times, Vcd, dvd, tv and this last part never fail me. How strong the will of a brave daddy is.. always crossed in my mind when I watched this part.

So far, I just can only came with these. Any other daddy's daughter has their own list? Let me know!! :)

Hola!! gimana puasanya?? gw masih belum puasa dongg!! haha.. (loh?) And.. hari ini gw jalan-jalan ke tempat yang unyu bangett!!

Pasti pada nanya.. gw nih sebenernya kemana siihh?? (pede bgt ada yg nanya) haha.. Gak.. gw gak ke pasar atau ke restoran buat maling makanan.. Jadi, selama masa kerja gw (red: kerja 1 minggu 3x only, desain seenak bodong) di bandung ini, gw direkomendasiin ama bos gw buat ke suatu tempat. Dan datanglah gw ke "Crayon Craft" ini nih..

Hihi.. dari foto terakhir pasti udah ketauan ya?? Crayon craft itu emang toko alat-alat kerajinan. Khususnya alat-alat yang jual kerajinan buat bikin miniatur dan dummy.. Jadi, semua foto diatas adalah miniatur. So cuuuteee, kan? Liat deh, mereka bisa bikin miniaturnya dengan detail bangeeett.. Tempat ini juga nyediain kursus buat yang mau belajar bikin miniatur.

Yang lebih oke lagi, mereka gak cuma bikin miniatur tapi bikin dummy makanan. Nah, jadi jangan ketipu kalo liat makanan yang di restoran. Jgan coba-coba keburu rakus pengen nyicipin. Siapa tau itu dummy bikinan mereka. Contohnya kayak poto yang paling atas banget sama yang ini..

Yaolohhh.. yummy ya!! Maaf banget klo ada yang liat beginian siang-siang.. Tabahkan hati kalian, anak-anak.. Hehe..

Tempatnya di jalan aceh no. 15 dan agak nyempil juga ternyata. Gw ga akan nyampe kalo ga dianter pak becak yang gw kira baik hati, tapi ternyata perhitungan abis. Makasih dah pak becak --".

Oya, gw ga beli satupun barang yang gw pajang disini.. Hehe.. awalnya gw emang cuma niat beli clay. Dan walopun libur, gw tetaplah mahasiswa kere. Jadi dengan menetapkan hati, dan berpikiran, "gilee.. lu kan belajar desain produk, harusnya bisa bikin sendiri dong!!" (entah kenapa merinding) Jadi gw menguatkan diri gw dan menahan isi dompet.
