Latest Sketch

Sketch terakhir yang gue buat untuk ide konsep awal buat (still) mata kuliah Desain Nusantara. Pengennya bikin tas dengan tema tribal-ethnic.. Wohoo!! Alternatifnya bikin plushie toys atau semacam bantal.. Hehe..

PS: For my Final Task Research, gw lg ngulik-ngulik seputar mainan tradisional, autisme, kerajinan bahan alam (rotan, bambu atau limbah kayu pinus) semuanya masih wacana. But I feel such difficulties for searching the ultimate data. :D

Movie : I Give My First Love to You (2009)

"My romance has time limit" (Takuma)
Gak bisa dipungkiri, gw makin gede ternyata makin suka drama tear-jeker kayak gini. Hehe..
Walaupun ga ada figure aktornya, You must be know what this movie all about, after see this one..
The sweet thing is this.. You must be feel.. Wow, how come they keep together for a long time, right? Ya, Mayu and Takuma's first met emang di rumah sakit. Btw, anak-anak kecil Jepang ini lucu-lucu banget. Sayang udah disuruh kiss-kiss an aja.. Hiks..
Gonjang-ganjingnya mulai muncul ketika mereka udah agak gede. Sekitar akhir masa SMP gitu. Si Takuma mulai merasa "our romance do has time limit" dan dia gak mau Mayu merasa sedih ketika dia akhirnya harus meninggalkan Mayu. So.. he decided to make a distance. Tapi dasar orang Jepang yah.. Ganbatte-nya itu pasti nempel banget. Si Mayu pura-pura ga ngerti harus gimana abis lulus SMP karena dia gak keterima dimana-mana padahal dia sebenernya mati-matian belajar. Dan pas first ceremony sekolahnya si Takuma, si Mayu yang akhirnya menjadi perwakilan murid baru karena nilai ujian masuknya paling tinggi berkat "kerja-keras-ngejar-Takuma" muncul aja gitu sambil marah-marah ke Takuma. Buseett..
Haha.. Maybe, I'm being too subjective, or maybe conservative? tapi karena drama ini adalah one of reccomended, dan yes, it touchful guys.. Paling nggak this drama movie akan gw ingat sebagai one of those asian tearjeker wich is little bit different (if you can't say weird ending)
Oh PS: not reccomended for everyone with happy-ending-obsessive

Soal Kain

Hei hei!!

Jadi biar kita nasionalis gitulah ceritanya. Nah, kebetulan tema semester ini adalah kain ikat celup a.k.a kain jumputan. (in fact, kayaknya tiap taun emang ngebahas jumputan deh. Soalnya gampang bikinnya.. hehe) Kalo yang mulai sd pas taun-taun 90an pasti pernah disuruh bikin jumputan pas pelajaran ktk, kan? (sotoy).

Pasti banyak dong, apalagi kemaren batik habis dicuri. Masa pemerintah gak aware sih buat sekedar bikin web pustaka kain Indonesia. Dan hasil husnudhan gue ini salah besar, coz I've got nothing except few pieces of articles *BIG sigh* Ini adalah ngenes pertama gue.

For info, gue memfokuskan diri untuk mengaplikasikan "kain ikat palembang atau kain pelangi" buat desain gue. Soalnya kain sasirangan udah umum banget. Tadinya mau make kain ikat toraja aja, tapi langsung mendem gara-gara liat ketiadaan literatur dimana-mana. (T.T padahal bagus banget tauk kain toraja!!)

Yaitu BUKU dong!! Jadilah, gue berburu buku dari mulai toko buku sahabat mahasiswa a.k.a Togamas, lanjut ke Gramedia, Gunung Agung, ampe toko-toko kecil di sekitaran surabaya. Ehm.. dan hasilnya gue dapet capek. Aja. Dikit banget buku-buku tentang kain ikat Indonesia.

Lengkap banget malah. Yang nulis orang asing juga malah. Haha (ketawa ngenes).. Sempet nekat mau beli, tapi keinget klo beli berarti gue ga bayar kos 1 semester plus gabisa makan 1 semester juga.. Hiks.. T.T

Yang ini yang paling lengkap. Lengkap-selengkapnya. Bukunya lebih tebel dari Al-Qur'an bok! Judulnya aja "Five Centuries of Indonesian Textiles" Gila aja gak tu, 5 abad?? Harganya $66.50 yang berarti hampir 700ribuan. Itu harga dari amazon.com, tapi gue inget banget pas liat langsung di periplus itu harganya lebih dari $100 dolar a.k.a 1 jutaan lebih!! *ngek* *mabok*

Kalo "Textiles of Southeast Asia: Tradition, Trade and Transformation" ini lebih murah. Hanya 500rbuan sajalah.. *Tess.. T.T* *mewek*

Nah, yang ini gak terlalu lengkap. Paling murah di jajaran buku-buku kain lainnya. Buku "Traditional Indonesian Textiles" ini cuma 300rbu-an aja kok *curr* *mimisan*

Masi banyak buku kain lainnya di periplus sana, tapi klo dijabarin semua gue mungkin bakal mati kehabisan darah. *lebay lu*

Nih situsnya (klik) Meeennn.. gila gak tuh?

Sebelumnya, gue ga pernah bener-bener ngerasain yang namanya kemirisan melihat gimana pemerintah "merawat" budaya-budaya kita. Tapi sekarang gue ga heran kenapa batik hampir dicuri.

PS:
  • Akhirnya posting yang agak guna. Yes!!
Kajur gue aja udah ganti! *eh

it's fun fun fun!!

For me, the best doodling moment is when you spontaneusly, unseriously playing with your writting tools and naturally moving your finger. Doodling is (for hiperbolic phrase) a sweet escape. That's why you like to doodle in the middle of class, while being trapped in uber-boring speech from 'antique' teacher, don't you? :p And since it was sweet escape, it became fun too. That moment your ideas just naturally find their way out. Creativity do come out in unexpected and a very last moment, right? Hehe..

That's what happen to me. Just like now, my sweet escape for my task finding the most suitable and the most worked theme for my design research and my future final task. Since I have to deal with this stuff at least ONE full year. I just don't wanna have a chance to be bored or moreover be failed. Gosh!! Coz that's mean I have to return from the very first step. And like it's not enough, I have to think about other subject theme projects, though they're not the main project like the research one, still the 'other subject' is not-that-easy-stuff.Urrggh.. It's really a stuff, guys!! My natural habit for kind of thing is browsing. (typical --") And instead of searching a bit of enlightment, I doing this.

Coz I do it while browsing, I just instantly imitate. Hehe.. (Yes, now you know how much my brain is ) And pic above come from here. An artwork from my senior class. Have no guts too get his permission, hope he never found out! *finger crossed*
And the second one inspired from here. An artwork from one of my favorite local illustrator. Goshh.. She's creepy!! Urrgh such a big different. Oh whatever..

Uurgh.. How much I wish research theme is as natural as doodling. Wish me luck, won't you??

Movie : Borrowers Arrietty (2010)

Heiho!! Everyone!!! I'm in such good mood today, cause I've been watch 'Borrowers Arrietty'!! For you who don't know, It's the latest Ghibli movie. After the last cute 'Ponyo' movie, I can't wait to see the next. This is actually kind of drama, but it still is amazing as well. For me it's good healing watch. Thankyou Ghibli!!

You will know the plot when you see pic below
It should be the poster instead of this other one below, right?

Yes, this is the story of "so-called" little people called Arrietty and her family. She's pretty isn't she? Altough when I know Arriety is actually a name, I suddenly thought of "Ariyati" a common Indonesian name which is soooo last year... Haha..

Arrietty and her family called their species as "The Borrowers" or Karigurashi in Japanesse. Because they live with 'borrowing" stuffs from human beans that scattered around, such as needle, napkin, sometimes a very tiny amount of sugar, etc. The story began when Arrietty started her first "borrowing" experience in human house (where they lived hidden inside). Meanwhile that time Sho, a 12 year old sick kid started to move there a while in a quiet countryside. In that Arriety's first experience, Sho see her. For more info, the Borrowers can not be seen by the human beans. Since they've been seen, the Borrowers family have to move in order to prevent the further accident to prevent human harmed their existence.

The borrowers made me thought about another movie in past. And yes, there is actually a hollywod kid movie in 1997 tittled as "The Borrowers". Which is so hollywood typical. With silly kid action with dumb antagonist role. Don't you remember this?

Well, hollywood is hollywood. I do watch them. But I loveee Ghibli much more. And the adaptation from Ghibli is just enchanted. By the way, both of this borrower movie are based on 1952 novel The Borrowers by Mary Norton.

In the hollywood adaptation, with many of kid action. Ghibli made it in very different way. This movie actually focused in relationship between Sho and Arrietty. Like Ghibli it's more drama and it's so sweeeet (OMG! I can't believe I said this phrase). The quality picture is so damn eye candy. It's dreamy, detail and it's Ghibli. Well, the most favorite place for me, is Arrietty room in their Borrower's house.
Arrietty said "It's my own little garden".. Girls!!Bring me my own garden too please!!!

I don't know why. But I can't think the reason why the boy character in Ghibli's movie is such alike. Sho is just like the boy from "Whisper of the Heart" and "Tales from Earth Sea". In this Arrietty, Sho come with a soft character. (Well, he's sick, right?). But yet, Sho show a gentletype man eventhough he's just 12 years old boy. FYI, Arrietty is 14.

How much they alike, after watch this, my favorite is still Sho. Kyaaa (fangirl act). But still, he can't ever beat Haku from Spirited Away. Hehe.. My favorite scene is when Arrietty meet Sho to tell him, that she will move soon.

The most important point when you see Ghibli's movie is they're soo Ghibli. (err, what do you mean?? --") Well, I mean they have their own idealistism or kind like that, right?. But, what I miss as Ghibli standard in this movie are their weird, quirky, creatures. When, other Ghibli's movie like "The Cat returns", "Howl's Moving Castle" come with full of mystical creatures, this movie is missing this critical part. Arrietty itself is weird though, she is 10 cm tall. But, I see almost no different with "The Whisper of The Heart" which is like teen love story. Maybe, I have too high expectation, like "The Spirited Away" which came with full package Ghibli movie with unlike story, lovely boy and girl character, breathtaking mystical scenery and full of kinds of Ghibli's type of creatures. Unfortunately I said, this movie can't ever beat the legendary "Spirited Away". Well, I should not hope. The director is Hiromasha Yonebayashi, with only 37 years old is the youngest director who has directed a film by Studio Ghibli. While, Hayao Miyazaki himself is responsible for planning the project, which has undoubtedly served as the safety net for the beginner Yonebayashi. Hey, but I don't blame you mister!! You do a great job. And Hayao Miyazaki sensei actually need retired too, I actually worried about his health in his very senior age. But still hoped for his another movie. It's such a dilemma. Really!! Mr. Yonebayashi actually give us a fresh air of Ghibli. It absolutely fulfill our thirst of Ghibli Movie since the latest "Ponyo" movie.

Oh, One more, mister Yonebayashi!! I like the soundtrack soooo much. Where did you find this Cecile Corbel?? First time I thought she was a Japanesse. This Cecile Corbel's angelic voice and string talent make the lovely soundtrack always humming in my ear till now!! Gosh.. Everyone, if you have any info about this soundtrack album please tell me right away!! Arigatou!! :D
